Climate change

Climate change

  • To incorporate equity and the principles of climate justice in climate change mitigation policies, both at the multilateral policy level, as well as at the local level.
  • To develop models, based on equity criteria, for the distribution of the remaining Global Carbon Budget with the aim of incorporating the dimension of the right to sustainable development. This dimension will be added to the dimensions currently taken into account: historical responsibility, equality and capacity.

  • At the multilateral level, we intend to work on a methodology to assess equity in the Nationally Determined Commitments submitted by the countries in the framework of the Paris Agreement.

  • At the local level, the aim is to develop a methodology to assess the correlations between the different income levels of the population and the emissions associated with energy consumption in the domestic sphere, mobility, and the consumption of products and services. This methodology can be key to understanding the impact of the measures adopted in response to climate change, and to proposing mitigation measures based on equity that leave no one on the sidelines.

  • Raise awareness among high school students of their important role in the fight against climate change, making them aware of the actions they can take at the local level: saving water and energy at home, in their daily transportation... (Forest and Sustainability Project).

  • From the data collected in the Forest and Sustainability Project from different secondary schools in Catalonia, evaluate the differences according to the area (metropolitan area, rural areas...) in terms of energy consumption habits for heating and transport systems.
  • To analyze the social perception and conflicts generated by risks and adaptation strategies to the adverse effects of climate change.
